Joi AI vs Candy AI: Which One Deserves Your $14 a Month?
Candy AI is cheaper and looks better. Joi AI has the bigger cast. Neither remembers your story for long. Here is the honest split, with real numbers.
Muah AI and Candy AI both promise adult chat with pictures. One has better images and a cleaner privacy record; the other gives you more control and live calls. Here's how they actually compare.
Candy AI is the safer default for most adults. It has better images, a lower entry price and no publicly reported breach. Muah AI is the specialist pick if you want deep character editing or real-time phone calls, but you should treat your data as already exposed and never use your real identity there.
We rate Candy.ai 9.8 out of 10. That score reflects what the platform does well (images, interface) and where it gets expensive (tokens, memory). Muah AI is a different animal: more control, more risk, and a 2024 breach that leaked about 1.9 million email addresses plus user prompts.
Neither app is a native iOS or Android app. Both run in the browser. If you want a store app with Apple or Google's payment rails, you'll have to look elsewhere.

Muah AI is a web app for people who want to build a character from a blank page. You get a Core Prompt for personality and a Look-Like box for appearance. There's also a creator tool that can draft a profile from an uploaded image. The platform markets more than 12,000 community characters, and some comparison guides mention a temperature slider for tuning responses (we haven't verified that ourselves).
Candy AI is made by EverAI Limited, a company registered in Malta. It's a browser-based PWA, not a store app. The pitch is simpler: pick from over 100 pre-made characters (girls, guys and anime styles) or use the Create My AI builder with options for ethnicity, age, body type, hair, personality, voice and hobbies. Each character you create costs about 10 tokens.
One is a workshop. The other is a catalog with a decent custom order desk. That difference drives everything else.
Both require an 18+ age gate and both allow adult content for fictional grown-up characters only. Muah AI gives basic NSFW chat after the gate; paid tiers add a Photo X-Ray feature. Candy AI puts 18+ media behind Premiumâfree users cannot open adult images or video at all.
Both are looser than Character AI, which filters explicit content for everyone. Candy AI's terms promise zero tolerance for CSAM, and messages are auto-flagged. Muah AI's terms are less specific in public view, but the platform still claims to police illegal content.
If you want a filter-free experience with no age gate, neither is for you. If you want a platform that at least states its rules clearly, Candy AI's terms are easier to find and read.
Muah AI wins on raw control. You write the Core Prompt yourself. You describe the look yourself. The result can be as specific or as generic as you want. Ten character slots come with the account, and you unlock more through XP, which is Muah's extra currency for slots and media upgrades.
Candy AI's builder is more restrictive but faster. You choose from set options instead of writing free-form. The payoff is consistency: the characters look like they belong in the same product, and the voice and hobbies fields give you something to work with immediately.
If you already know exactly who you want to talk to, Muah AI saves you the fight with a form. If you want to browse and tweak, Candy AI is less work.
Neither platform is good at remembering you for weeks.
Muah AI's memory works like a token budget. Your plan limits how much context the model can keep, and reviewers say context fades after roughly 40 to 50 messages. Candy AI's Premium Plus plan adds 20 memory slots, but testers see plots reset within two or three days.
That makes both fine for short roleplay arcs and bad for ongoing emotional support. If long-term memory is your priority, neither is the right pick. Nomi AI is the memory-focused option in this niche, and our Secrets AI review covers another platform that treats memory as a paid feature rather than an afterthought.
Conversation quality is harder to score without hands-on testing. What we can say is that Candy AI's V2 image model is credited for a quality jump, and Muah AI's GPT5/UHD tier exists specifically to improve output. Both charge more for better models.
Candy AI's strongest card is images. Its V2 model is among the most realistic in the niche, and Premium adds image-to-video and Live Action scenes on selected characters. Image generation costs about 4 tokens per picture; video conversion costs about 12.
Muah AI offers Realistic, Anime and Pro image styles, handles photo exchange, and turns images into short clips with audio. Video clips cost more as they get longer. It also has a Record button for voice messages and a Gen Voice feature that speaks replies.
Live calls are where Muah AI pulls aheadâif you pay. Real-time phone calls are Ultra VIP only ($99.99/mo or $999/yr). An older Reddit post says calls are US-only; we can't confirm current availability. Candy AI's voice calls are in beta, and independent reviews put them at about 3 tokens per minute.
For most people, Candy AI's image quality matters more than Muah AI's call feature. Calls are a novelty you'll use a few times; pictures are what you look at every session.
| Plan | Muah AI | Candy AI |
|---|---|---|
| Free | Daily message limits, photo quotas, locked images | 5 messages, 1 character, 1 image |
| Entry monthly | VIP $19.99 unlimited chat | Premium $13.99, 100 tokens/mo |
| Entry annual | VIP $69.99/yr, about $5.83/mo | $47.88/yr, $3.99/mo |
| Middle | GPT5/UHD VIP $49.99/mo or $499/yr | Quarterly $26.97, $8.99/mo |
| Top | Ultra VIP $99.99/mo or $999/yr, calls | Premium Plus 330 tokens/mo, price at checkout |
Candy AI is cheaper at every comparable tier. Its yearly plan at $47.88 works out to $3.99/mo, versus Muah AI's yearly VIP at $69.99, or about $5.83/mo. Muah AI's monthly VIP is $19.99; Candy's monthly Premium is $13.99.
But Candy's token system changes the math. Tokens buy images, video and voice minutes. Comparison sites estimate the token top-ups add $20 to $30 a month for typical users, and media-heavy users in our data spend $25 to $80 a month. Muah AI's VIP includes unlimited chat, and its extra costs come from XP and longer video clips.
If you mostly chat, Candy AI is cheaper. If you generate a lot of media, the gap narrows or flips.
Two pricing traps to note. Some guides still list Candy AI at $12.99/mo; the current price is $13.99. And Muah AI's checkout is labeled Fevermate VIP, card only. Refunds aren't default at Muah; support may grant a one-time exception. Candy AI refunds only if you ask within a day of paying and have spent no more than 20 tokens.
For a deeper look at Candy's token economics, see our Candy.ai review.
Neither free tier is generous. Candy AI gives you five messages, one character and one image total. That's a demo, not a trial. Muah AI gives daily message limits, photo quotas and locked imagesâmore room to poke around, but still a wall.
Some comparison sites claim Muah's free tier is unlimited. Our data says otherwise. Treat any "unlimited free" claim as marketing until you hit the limit yourself.
The practical advice: use the free tiers to test the interface and the character style, not to run a full roleplay. If you want to evaluate seriously, pay for one month, not a year.
This is where the two platforms separate sharply.
Muah AI suffered a breach in 2024. About 1.9 million email addresses and user prompts were copied. Have I Been Pwned added the breach on October 8, 2024, and flagged it as sensitive. 404 Media reported that a large share of the leaked prompts sought child sexual abuse material. Troy Hunt noted that many Muah users signed up with addresses carrying real names. Malwarebytes covered extortion attempts using the leaked data. Muah's administrator blamed competitors, and there has been no post-mortem, audit or user notice since.
Muah's privacy policy has an effective date of May 17, 2022, and it mentions no encryption. The platform collects names, emails, phone numbers, IP addresses and device data. Comparison notes say Muah shows user email and IP in account settings. There is a Wipe Cloud Data tool for stored chats, which is better than nothing, but it doesn't undo the breach.
Candy AI has no publicly reported breaches as of now. EverAI is subject to GDPR, and charges appear as EverAI on bank statements. Candy uses TLS 1.2+ in transit and encrypts passwords. Some comparison sites claim Candy offers end-to-end encryption; its privacy notice does not say so. It may train models on de-identified chats, and content may go to third-party model providers. Candy may hold account records up to three years past your final login.
Neither app offers end-to-end encryption. If that's a hard requirement, skip both.
If you had a Muah account before October 2024, check Have I Been Pwned. Assume your email and prompts are public. Use a separate email address, never put identifying details in chats, and don't reuse a password.
Pick Candy AI if: you want the best images in the niche, you mostly chat rather than generate media, you want the lowest entry price, and you care about a cleaner privacy record. It's also the easier interface if you don't want to write prompts from scratch.
Pick Muah AI if: you want full control over character personality and appearance, you need real-time phone calls and will pay for Ultra VIP, or you're comfortable treating your account data as already exposed. It's a specialist tool with a specialist price and a real risk profile.
Skip both if: you need long-term memory, native mobile apps, end-to-end encryption, or a platform with a spotless privacy history. Our OurDream AI review covers a cheaper yearly option with unlimited chat, though its encryption claims don't match its policy either.
If memory is the dealbreaker, look at Nomi AI. If price is the dealbreaker, OurDream AI Premium is $19.99 monthly or $9.99/mo on the yearly plan, with unlimited chat and voice calls billed in dreamcoins. Its FAQ promises end-to-end encryption, but the policy only describes server encryptionâthe same caveat as Candy.
Secrets AI Premium is $19.99 monthly, with live calls billed in Moments and account closure that erases chats. The caveat: conversations can still feed model training. You can read the details in our Secrets AI review.
None of these are perfect. The niche is young, the privacy practices are uneven, and the pricing pages change. That's exactly why we read the fine print.
Candy AI is the safer default. Better images, cheaper entry, a cleaner privacy record, and a company in a GDPR jurisdiction. We rate it 9.8 out of 10. Its weaknesses are memory that resets in days and a token system that can add $20 to $30 a month for media-heavy users.
Muah AI is the specialist pick. Deep character editing and live calls are real advantages, but the 2024 breach, a privacy policy unchanged since 2022 and Ultra-only calls at $99.99/mo make it a hard sell for anyone who values their data.
Try the free tiers first. If you pay, pay monthly before annual. And never use your real identity on either platform.
Candy AI is better for most people: stronger images, a lower entry price and no reported breach. Muah AI is better if you want full control over character creation or need real-time phone calls, but you should treat your data as exposed.
It's usable, but treat your data as already exposed. Use a separate email address, put nothing identifying in chats, and check Have I Been Pwned if your account predates October 2024.
Candy AI's yearly plan is $47.88, or $3.99/mo, versus Muah AI's yearly VIP at $69.99, about $5.83/mo. Heavy media users can flip the math, since Candy's pictures cost tokens and can add $20 to $30 a month.
Both do. Muah AI's live calls require the Ultra VIP tier at $99.99/mo or $999/yr. Candy AI's voice calls are in beta and cost about 3 tokens per minute according to independent reviews.
Yes, but briefly. Muah AI's demo has daily message limits and photo quotas. Candy AI gives you five messages, one character and one image total. Neither has a native app; both run in the browser.
