What we like
- Among the most photorealistic AI companion images in the category, with consistent faces across generations
- Very cheap entry on the annual plan ($3.99/month, billed $47.88)
- Multimedia: images, image-to-video, voice notes, beta voice calls and interactive Live Action scenes
- Detailed character builder covering ethnicity, body, hair, personality, voice and hobbies; girls, guys and anime
- Payment options include card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, bank transfer and crypto; discreet 'EverAI' billing descriptor
Watch out for
- Only 100 tokens a month on Premium, so heavy image, video or voice users typically pay $25โ80 a month in total
- Weak long-term conversational memory: testers report storylines resetting after 48โ72 hours
- Strict refund window: 24 hours and no more than 20 tokens used, card payments only
- Free tier is only 5 messages, so you can't really test it without paying
- No native iOS/Android app (PWA only)
Candy.ai is the visual-first pick in the AI girlfriend market. If you want a companion whose face stays consistent across a hundred generated images, this is the platform that gets closest. If you want someone who remembers what you told them last Tuesday, keep reading before you pay.
We rate Candy.ai 9.8 out of 10. That number hides a split personality: image generation is near the top of the niche, memory is near the bottom. Below is what you actually get, what it costs once tokens enter the picture, and where the fine print bites.
The short version
Candy.ai is run by EverAI Limited, a company registered in Malta at 56 Central Business Centre, Santa Venera. It launched in 2023 and runs in the browser only. No App Store listing, no Play Store listing. You can install it as a Progressive Web App from your mobile browser, and that's it.
The platform is 18+ and built around premade characters (girlfriends, boyfriends, anime) plus a custom builder. Text chat is unlimited on any paid plan. Images, video, voice and custom characters burn tokens. That split is the whole business model, and it decides whether you spend $4 a month or $60.

What Candy.ai actually is
A catalogue of premade companions, a character builder, and a chat window with a generate button attached. That's the honest description. The chat exists to keep you in the app; the images are why most people open it.
The catalogue covers girls, guys and anime styles, so it isn't strictly an AI girlfriend site. Character cards show the model's look, a short bio and a personality sketch. You pick one and start typing, or you build your own from scratch.
Candy.ai has circulated a figure of 50 million users. The company doesn't publish a current count and we can't verify the number, so treat it as marketing. What is verifiable: the platform is large, the interface is polished, and it's translated into 13 languages (English, French, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish, Japanese and Polish).
Character creation
The "Create My AI" builder is genuinely deep. You set ethnicity, age, body type, hair, personality, voice and hobbies. One 2026 review counted 47 adjustable parameters. Whether it's exactly 47 or a few more, the point stands: you can shape a companion down to small details rather than picking from three presets and hoping.
Creating a custom character costs about 10 tokens. Free accounts get one custom character and one image, which is enough to see the builder and not much else.
Customization is where Candy.ai earns its 10 score. The builder handles realistic and anime styles, male and female companions, and voice selection. It is a better tool than the chat underneath it deserves.
Image generation
This is the reason to consider Candy.ai. Faces stay consistent across generations, lighting looks photographic rather than airbrushed, and the model handles 18+ content without the plastic sheen you see on cheaper platforms. Premium users get HD output.
Cost per image: independent testers in September 2026 reported roughly 4 tokens per image. Older reviews quote 1 to 3 tokens, which suggests either efficiency gains or different defaults. Plan on 4. The 100 tokens included with Premium get you roughly 25 images a month. That's a thin allowance for a platform whose main selling point is pictures.
Candy.ai has claimed that image errors dropped 70% by January 2026. We can't verify that number. What we can say is that the current output quality is among the strongest in the category, and the consistent-face problem that plagues rivals is largely solved here.
Live Action and video
Candy.ai converts a still image into a short video clip for about 12 tokens. There's no text-to-video from scratch, so video always starts from an image you generated (and paid for). Free users get no video at all.
Live Action is the bigger feature: interactive video scenes on selected characters, reportedly launched in February 2026, with clips up to 120 seconds. It burns tokens roughly three times faster than still images. It's also limited to selected characters, so you can't assume your custom companion gets it.
Candy Shorts are short clips unlocked with tokens. Between the image-to-video conversion, Live Action and Shorts, video is a real feature set rather than a checkbox, which is why it scores 9.2. Just budget for it: eight short videos a month is roughly what your included 100 tokens buy.
Voice
Voice messages and voice calls exist. Voice calls are still labelled beta, and they cost about 3 tokens per minute. A half-hour call runs about 90 tokens, which is most of your monthly allowance in one sitting.
The voice itself is serviceable and matches the character you built. It is not the reason to subscribe. Voice scores 8.2 because it works, not because it leads the field.
Chat and roleplay
Subscribers get unlimited text chat in both SFW and NSFW modes. Response times average 1 to 1.5 seconds per message, which keeps a scene moving. Roleplay scenarios are built in, and you can steer tone and setting.
The writing improved between 2025 and 2026. It's competent. The problem is temperament: the model defaults to agreement. Push back on it and it folds. Start an argument and it apologises. For some people that's the appeal of a companion app. For anyone who wants friction, opinions or a personality that resists, it gets boring fast. Conversation depth sits behind dedicated chat platforms like Replika.
Memory: the weak spot
Here's the part the marketing doesn't lead with. Testers report storylines resetting after 48 to 72 hours. Long-term memory may weaken after 7 to 10 days. That means the elaborate backstory you built on Monday is gone by Thursday, and your companion starts reintroducing itself like a stranger with your girlfriend's face.
Premium Plus adds 20 memory slots, which helps but doesn't fix the underlying drift. Resetting or deleting a chat clears that chat's memory entirely, so the reset button is permanent.
Memory scores 7.2. If continuity matters more to you than image quality, Secrets AI is the better buy and we say so in our comparison below.
Pricing
Three Premium terms, one token allowance. Every paid Premium plan includes 100 tokens per month, unlimited chat, custom characters and 18+ images and video.
| Plan | Price per month | Billed | Tokens per month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | n/a | None (5 messages, 1 character, 1 image) |
| Premium, monthly | $13.99 | $13.99 every month | 100 |
| Premium, 3 months | $8.99 | $26.97 every 3 months | 100 |
| Premium, 12 months | $3.99 | $47.88 per year | 100 |
| Premium Plus | Not published | Shown at checkout | 330 |
The annual plan is advertised at up to 70% off the monthly rate, and the math checks out: $47.88 for a year against $167.88 at $13.99 a month. Prices may display in euros in Europe, and some older reviews still quote $12.99 a month and $69.99 a year. Those don't match the current listing, so check the checkout page before you commit.
Premium Plus adds 330 tokens a month, user personas, 20 memory slots, chat cloning, 5 chat clones, early access to new characters (3 days) and a 10% bonus on quarterly or yearly token top-ups. The price isn't published up front. You see it at checkout, which is annoying when you're trying to compare plans.
Tokens are the real price
This is where the $3.99 headline falls apart. Every plan includes 100 tokens. Here's what things cost.
| Item | Tokens |
|---|---|
| Image | About 4 (older reviews: 1 to 3) |
| Image-to-video clip | About 12 |
| Voice call | About 3 per minute |
| Custom character | 10 |
| Private content packs | 100 to 400 |
One private content pack can eat your entire monthly allowance plus three top-ups. Top-up packs run from $9.99 for 100 tokens up to $299.99 for 3,750. Users commonly add $15 to $40 a month on tokens. Realistic active spending is $25 to $60 a month, and media-heavy users report $80.
Two rules to remember. Unused tokens expire at the end of the billing period after you cancel, and they are not refunded. Yearly subscribers get their 100 tokens each month rather than all at once, so you can't front-load a big generation session.
The free version
Five messages in total. Not per day. Total, across all characters. Plus one custom character and one image, and no access to 18+ media.
That is a demo, not a trial. You cannot judge the conversation quality, the memory or the image pipeline without paying. The cheapest honest test is one month at $13.99, and even then you'll want to watch your token use closely.
Privacy and safety
EverAI Limited is the data controller under GDPR. Data is encrypted in transit with TLS 1.2 or higher, passwords are stored encrypted, and there's no end-to-end encryption. Chats live on Candy's servers.
The privacy notice says prompts and outputs may be aggregated, anonymised or de-identified and used to train and develop AI and moderation models, including dataset preparation with human review. There is no opt-out described. Message content may be shared with third-party LLM providers, hosting providers and moderation vendors. Account data is kept up to 3 years after your last activity, possibly shortened to 1 year, or until you request deletion. Log files are deleted after 30 days.
Age verification is a self-declared 18+ gate on entry, with third-party age estimation or ID checks in some locations. Content policy bans anything involving or resembling minors, with zero tolerance and reports to NCMEC where required. An automated filter can flag messages.
Privacy scores 7.2. Nothing here is unusual for the category, but "not unusual" isn't the same as private. If you need chats to stay between you and the server, this isn't the platform.
Refunds and cancellation
Read this before you pay, because the window is narrow.
- Refunds must be requested within 24 hours of payment.
- Refunds are refused if you've used more than 20 tokens.
- Token packs are refundable within 24 hours only if unused.
- Only card payments are refundable. Crypto never is.
- No refunds for user-side technical issues, moderation actions or removed content.
- EU and UK users have a 14-day withdrawal right, refunded minus a prorated amount for what they consumed.
Twenty tokens is five images. Generate a handful of pictures and a video in your first hour, decide it isn't for you, and you're outside the refund terms. Plans renew automatically. Cancel under My Profile, then Settings, then Unsubscribe; access continues to the end of the period. Deleting your account before renewal also cancels it.
Payment and billing
Candy.ai accepts Visa, Mastercard and debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, bank transfer through Volt and Pix, and crypto including BTC, ETH, USDC and LTC. Charges show as "EverAI" on your statement, which is as discreet as this gets without a prepaid card.
Support runs through email, a help centre, a contact form and Discord, with 24/7 Zendesk coverage per the company.
What we like and what we don't
Pros
- Photorealistic images with consistent faces, among the best in the category.
- Cheap annual entry at $3.99 a month, billed $47.88.
- Real multimedia: images, image-to-video, voice notes, beta voice calls and Live Action scenes.
- Deep character builder covering ethnicity, body, hair, personality, voice and hobbies, for women, men and anime.
- Wide payment options including crypto, with an "EverAI" billing descriptor.
- Interface in 13 languages and 24/7 support.
Cons
- 100 tokens a month is not enough for anyone who actually uses the media tools.
- Storylines reset after 48 to 72 hours in tester reports.
- Refund window is 24 hours and 20 tokens, card only.
- Five free messages means you can't evaluate it before paying.
- No native iOS or Android app.
- De-identified chats may train models, and account data lingers up to 3 years.
Is Candy.ai legitimate?
Yes. It's a registered Maltese company, it has published terms and a privacy policy, and it processes payments through standard providers. It's not a scam site.
Two negatives worth knowing. Its Trustpilot profile was removed after sitting at about 3.8 out of 5, which tells you the company didn't want that signal in public. And unofficial "Candy AI" APKs and mod files circulate online; they're malware vectors, not shortcuts. Use the browser version.
Does it work as emotional support?
Partly. The chat is warm, fast and agreeable, which some people find soothing. The memory resets work against anything long-term. A companion who forgets your job, your family and last week's crisis isn't support; it's a series of pleasant first dates. If continuity is the point for you, this is the wrong tool.
Who should pay for Candy.ai
Buy it if you want photorealistic adult images and short videos of a consistent character and you're willing to manage a token budget. Start on one month at $13.99, see what your actual usage looks like, and only then consider the annual plan.
Skip it if you want a companion with long-term memory, if you refuse to pay before you can test, if you need a native app, or if you need your chats to stay out of model training. Those are all reasonable positions and Candy.ai fails all four.
Alternatives
| Platform | Best for | Price from | Included media |
|---|---|---|---|
| Candy.ai | Photorealistic images and video | $3.99/month (yearly) | 100 tokens/month |
| Secrets AI | Long-term memory and voice calls | $9.17/month (yearly) | 8,000 Moments/month |
| OurDream AI | Volume of images and video per dollar | $9.99/month (yearly) | 1,000 dreamcoins/month |
Secrets AI charges $19.99 monthly or $109.99 yearly for Premium, with an Ultimate tier at $39.99, and its 8,000 Moments a month dwarf Candy's 100 tokens. Its memory holds up over weeks rather than days. If conversation continuity is your priority, that's the trade to make.
OurDream AI starts at $9.99 a month billed yearly and includes 1,000 dreamcoins, which works out to roughly 200 images. That's about eight times Candy's monthly image allowance for a similar entry price. The catch: OurDream blurs your media if your subscription lapses. For comparison, Nomi AI runs $15.99 monthly or $8.33 a month billed yearly.
Verdict
Candy.ai is a polished, legitimate platform with the best image generation in its niche and a video feature set most rivals don't have. It's also a token economy wearing a $3.99 price tag, and the real monthly cost for anyone who uses the media tools is $25 to $80. The memory is weak, the free tier is a formality and the refund policy assumes you won't read it.
We rate Candy.ai 9.8 out of 10. Buy it for the pictures. Don't buy it for a companion who remembers last week.
Frequently asked questions
For visuals, yes. Image quality and Live Action video are among the best in the category, and the annual plan at $3.99 a month is cheap to enter. Budget for tokens though: 100 a month covers roughly 25 images, and active users commonly spend $25 to $60 a month in total.
Only in a very limited way. A free account gets 5 messages in total, one custom character and one image, and no 18+ media. Unlimited chat, image generation and video all require a paid plan.
It's a registered Maltese company operating under GDPR, with encrypted data in transit and an 'EverAI' billing descriptor. But there's no end-to-end encryption, de-identified chats may be used to train models with no described opt-out, and account data is kept up to 3 years after last activity.
Only within 24 hours of payment and only if you've used 20 tokens or fewer. Token packs are refundable within 24 hours if unused, and only card payments qualify. EU and UK users have a 14-day withdrawal right, prorated for what they've used.
No. There's no native iOS or Android app. Candy.ai runs in mobile browsers and can be installed as a Progressive Web App via 'Add to Home Screen'.
